Three Drugstore Products I Love, and One I Hate

There’s nothing better than finding a drugstore alternative that works just as well or even better than a more expensive product, amiright? Three of these products are just that for me, and one I hate. Maybe hate is too strong a word? Nah HAHAHA I really can’t stand this stuff.

Let’s start with the one I can’t stand. Can you guess which one?

Dove Shower Foam Cucumber & Green Tea Scent Foaming Body Wash

First off, it doesn’t smell like cucumber at all? I happen to love the refreshing scent of cucumbers, but I get none, nada, so it’s just disappointing for me. When I expect cucumber, I want cucumber! Not some weird kinda’ floral scent? And the foam? Kind of disappears as you are using it-you need/use a lot of it when showering. The lather doesn’t stick around well on your shower poof is what I mean. And the last reason I hate this, is that I find it REALLY drying. SO so drying. My menopausal skin needs way more moisture than this stuff gives. I usually love Dove body washes, but this one is a total fail and pass for me. I’m so done trying to use it up that I’m tossing it tonight. Buh-BYE.

Renpure Originals Coconut Water Mist Leave-In Treatment

This stuff I got at Target in the USA, so if you happen to be lucky enough to be able to visit one, pick this stuff up! It’s such a great detangler! I love it- it’s the third bottle I’ve used. I discovered it when I was staying with Marky during the month of March. I had run out of DryBar’s Mr. Incredible, which is a leave in conditioner that is pretty amazing at detangling long hair. But, it’s not cheap 😦 at all. This costs about $5 and it works just as well! I’m glad I’m going back to California this week to move Marky into her new place because I’m about half way through this bottle now. Great stuff!

Acure Moroccan Argan Oil in Coconut

If you still use Morocannoil, then dude, you are spending way too much money! Acure Organics makes awesome products that are really affordable, like their argan oils, which are at least half the price(about $17.99) of that more expensive brand I mentioned above. And they work just as well, plus this smells so good! Who doesn’t like their hair smelling coconutty? You can find Acure Organics at, at Walmart, and as well.

L’Oreal Everpure Lotus Volume Shampoo

I’m all about the sulphate-free shampoos you guys, and actually, starting to be even more about sulphate-free everything. Marky has developed a real sensitivity to sulphates, so when she’s around I tend to have every shower product be sulphate-free. She gets horrible rashes when products contain it. L’Oreal’s line of sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners is pretty awesome, and this lotus volumizing one really works well! I know this is just the shampoo, I ran out of conditioner the other day and of course, I haven’t picked up another yet. Anyone else get blog post ideas while showering? Anyone? Or just me? And sorry for this mangled up version I’m showing you-I have one more use to squuuuuueeeze outta of this before tossing it HAHA. But if you have thinning hair like me, pick this stuff up! I can usually find it on sale for about $7.99 or so at Shopper’s Drug Mart. It kind of tingles your scalp a bit, nothing ouchy, but it sure does give my thinning hair some much needed oomph. I love it, but there’s just one thing that irks me, and I’ll show you it.

The dang cap doesn’t CLOSE after the first time you crack it open! WTF L’OREAL?! It’s no big deal really because at least it doesn’t cause any product to leak out, because if it did I’d never get it again, that’s for sure. But it means it’s pretty much impossible to take travelling which makes me sad! I was thinking of taking a new one with me this week, but alas, it would just spill all over my toiletry bag, so sigh…no go. I’ll have to pack something else. And yeah, I’m going for over a week, and it’s gonna be hot, and sweaty, and gross, and I have longish hair, so I’ll be showering a lot…I need to bring more than a travel size version of shampoo. Oh well, maybe I’ll just wait until I get there and find a new gem at Target haha!

What have you been loving or hating from the drugstore lately?

  1. Thanks for the Dove Shower Foam review. I have a bottle at home to try. I got it on sale and with a coupon on top so if I don’t like it, I haven’t spent much on it. I like lots of lather with my body washes but sounds like this one is a miss in that department.
